Bob, can you say who's idea it was to make Demolisher in the opening set piece an absolutely massive enemy? It was visually stunning and a very cool looking bot, but I felt it sort of killed most of the tension that could have been mined with the formation of Devastator. It kind of establishes that big is no big deal. At least that's what I felt there.

I'll take a stab at it, but I honestly don't think there's anything anyone could say that would satisfy you. But for us here, Bob has more than anything been forthcoming in answering even the most venomous questions and accusations leveled at him throughout his time here. He doesn't need to be here. For the most part, this board can be an exercise in self abuse. But he does. And not just to talk projects he's also spent a lot of time here just hanging out and shooting the shit.

On a personal level, in an industry that is extremely cutthroat, were contemporaries are loathe to offer advice to an aspirant simply because the employment slots are limited, and today's wannabe could be tomorrow's competition, he's been completely and utterly helpful in offering technical and systemic advice, taking time out of an increasingly crowded schedule to do so, and offer moral support and encouragement as well.

On top of that, he's just a cool guy that most of us here enjoy interacting with on just a social level, regardless of what he does for a living. Having someone on the inside to flatly demystify the magic behind the curtain is just a bonus.

None of that means he's above criticism, and I think Bob will be the first to say that. Nor am I afraid to tease him or bust his chops about things (as I'm sure he can attest to) so I'm hardly the blind sycophant you'd like to paint me as. Ultimately, he's the successful one and I'm just another dude who can only speak from his own personal tastes, but even so I know Bob is always cool about taking critiques graciously, good naturedly and even invitingly.

And just like any other employee of any company, he's limited in exactly what or how he can frame things, but of all the people I've met in the industry he's definitely one of the most honest and transparent, while still remaining diplomatic about it.

Honestly, I'm not sure why this is an issue of trust at all. For most of us, the explanation we got works fine. I don't feel duped in the slightest. I really enjoyed the movie, and moreso that they came up with a solution that not only made sense but was pure Trek in nature as far as I'm concerned.

I'm sorry it didn't work for you, and that it wasn't a satisfying experience because of that. But the vendetta is really unwarranted and borderline creepy. You act as if Leonard Nimoy is a corrupt Cardinal espousing the virtues of the nazi party.

Well, not holding a really creepy vendetta against the man causing you to cyber stalk him and create multiple accounts where you harass and threaten physical violence against a complete stranger who has done nothing to you but create a movie you don't like would be a start.

Indeed.. I got that same feeling.. Despite him being huge.. doing much damage on the road.. he was a piece of cake for Prime to kill..

In overall I think the construction vehicles/bots were used in a bad way.. Drones.. killed of easily.. While they could have been a real thread to the Autobots and humans.. Now they were side characters.. Killed by a magic mojo..

Jep.. be glad Orci is open to conversation on a message board..
Try contacting Sam Raimi for screwing Spiderman...
Or Zack Penn for making X3 terrible..

And.. If you don't like the last trek movie.. fine.. just leave it at that.. there's nothing to change about it.. just ignore it then..
I think Trekkies may just be happy that they tried to make a new Trek movie.. as the whole franchise wasn't called to be exciting anyway for non-trek people.. And now they have made Trek intersting for a new generation..

Bob, are you and Alex going to be doing this "alone" or will you be sharing credit for story and/or screenplay for the second Trek outing? Maybe you don't know yet as you might just be bantering back and forth about an idea first. Which leads to a second question: any studio stipulations on the second film out of the gate?

As a note for MattJC:

You can continue making accounts if you want. And I'll continue locking you out of them. Eventually I may get bored of doing this and IP ban you too, as well as publicly displaying all your contact details so any random nutcase who wants can hound you and make anonymous threats against you, just like you're doing to Bob.

If I were you I'd just move on and let it go.

I am. And 99% of the time I'm doing nothing. But when someone starts making threats of physical harm in, apparently, all seriousness, that's in the other 1%.

We will be sharing story credit with the amazing Damon Lindelof, who Produced the first movie with JJ.

Then Alex and I will write the script.

True, even a per-shot storyboard would amount to quite a big paper pile.

...but regardless of numbers of shots...

With TF1 I had the feeling, the action made the setpieces.

While in ROTF, especially the second half in Egypt felt as if the set pieces
were planned to 'make' the action... and imho, the actual 'ingredients' and set up of those scenes, restricted the action rather than providing slick fluid transformation action.

I remember Transformer tech specs & profiles, clearly denoting specific skills and functions to each TF character, inherent to the characteristics of the altmode. I.e. a jet TF being fast & agile, while a dozer TF would be brute force and fit for desert terrain. Etc.

So, what I mean by this is a sense of logical cause & effect based on TF characters with a specific skill/quality. And I felt that was lacking from the Egypt part of the movie : I had hoped the outlining proces would take such things into account....

Thoughts ?

The million dollar question is: How come we haven't heard anything, AT ALL, by Ehren Kruger regarding ROTF? Was it stated in his TF2 contract that he couldn't do any interviews?

Hi Bob,

Just wanted to say well done on having a lovely summer, you all must be feeling very proud.

So with that in mind, a serious question.

When you had your celebratory dinner, what was on the menu?

Will you be around, if someone else gets the script of the third one? It would be funny to see you and the new writer both here, if that happens.

Dumb me. I forgot about Damon Lindelof helping with the story. Well, good luck. I can only guess how this is a daunting task to accomplish as you have to really please alot of people before it even sees the light of day.

After you guys write the script, who will be the first person to sit down and read it?
