Hey Bob, are Sam's Parent going to continue being blissfully unaware of the Bot's, and rephrasing a previous post, will Sam has explained the overhaul to BB's beater Camaro?

I bet someone other than SEGA could make a better new Sonic the Hedgehog game than SEGA's Sonic team ever could Sonic team must be insane or on medication to think the 85% rubbish sonic games from the last few years are doing the franshise any favors - all it does is make them look stupid. and the only distantly approching playable Sonic games made over the last few years were just as I said the ones not made by Sonic Team.

I still think SEGA want a slap for using the PC version of SONIC CD on retro compilations as well.

Sonic should not be set on Earth, it should never involve him having a human girlfriend and most of his 'Hangers On' can just die too. (Tales is Ok and probably Knuckles - most of the others suck).

Sonic is about Speed and fun - not half assed fetch quests.
Meh. I'm just kind of curiouse as to how Bob would handle such a project. It'd be really interesting to see how they handled Dr. Eggman. Firslty, I'd have them change his name to his cartoon name, Dr. Robotnik. Eggman would kind of sound silly in real life. It could be done. Sonic as a cgi character is easily done these days. The script would really be the big issue with a movie like this.

I don't think so. He never relaxes about it. He wants to push himself and everyone else to get as much out of the experience as possible, with his audience truly in mind.

Sounds awesome! I really like the idea of some of the Transformers having their own unique "abilities". Adds a whole new level of intrigue to them.

Roberto, I have questions about dialogue.
1) Will each character have at least one line in English?
2) Will there be any more spoken Cybertronian?

Um...I don't think that would work. Besides Robotnik and his lackey there isn't another human in there.

Now an animated movie, that might work.

Geez. Live action, huh? That could be a Kobayashi Maru. Let's see... you'd need a little Roger Rabbit, a little Howard the Duck, a little TRON, and a couple of other things that I can't even imagine. Or you go the Jim Carrey in a Hedgehog suit route.

Truly have no idea. What would you do?

Comedy crime caper.

Michael Keaton is a cop working on a case in Venice, CA. He drives a classic blue Cobra that he calls The Sonic Hedgehog. Jeff Goldblum plays his gay lover.

Kelly LeBrock co-stars as Knuckles.

Just remember- Frank Welker could play anybody else whether or not he's Soundwave. He could pull double duty like JEss Harnell did.

On that note, are they going to announce the voice cast sooner? Last time we found out after someone read the VA cast on a pamphlet given at the premiere.

might as well as play one of the twins. his credentials are more than enough to be hired for one of their roles unless there was something very very specific bay wanted.

I would expect a mix of old school Vocoder and new Decepticon Voice Effects, which always sound great in english. I hope the Decepticons speak in english more often than Cybertronian.

they should add a bit more volume to his voice like they did with Prime to make it that much more 'powerful'. having said that, i thought primes voice (great job by cullen by the way) was a little too low in some lines. still nothing really to complain about though.

Oh, yeah. The low Bass and subtle sub-sonics (if I heard/felt correctly) really made Prime come to life in the theaters. Soundwave portrayed like that would be simply as cold as fuck.

Lmoa. Love the movie references, and apart from Howard the Duck, I like them all!

Anywho, I'd kind of have the "Shadow the Hedgehog" ps2 game kind of enviorment.

Have Sonic be a genetically engineered by one Dr. Eggman, named project: S.O.N.I.C, as an experiment for a way to create Super Speed for soldiers. However, Sonic has no recollections of these memories, as they are erased when he is discarded by the government. Then he has a choice to make: Good or evil? This decesion he makes through out the movie, and along the way, he meets up with Miles, a two-tailed fox who calls himself tails by nickname who went through similar problems in the past, but instead used for flight. The two realise what they have in common and decide to team up.

Along the way, Dr. Eggman discovers that there's an ultimate source of power, one that can decisively improve the quality of his now failing experiments: The Chaos Emeralds.

Now, somewhere along the line, Sonic stubmles across the first emerald when he meets up with a good-guy scientist (Insert creative scien-cy name here) . He reveals that this emerald is the secret to his own success, and was passed down through his family for generations. But there's a catch: The only way to unlock it's full potential is to collect the other Chaos Emeralds. In return for collecting them for the scientis so he can reach his own personal goal, he promises Sonic that he'll help him cure thier amnesia problem.

However, they aren't the only ones looking for them. Now a massive world wide search, Dr. Eggman uses his new robotic army to scour the world looking for them, trashing everything in its wake in thier desperate search. Sonic finds the needless destruction pointless and encounters Eggmans first robotic beast.

Now in his first battle, Sonic soon realises he is no match for one robot, let alone an entire army. Then something strange happens. The chaos emerald given to him by the professor starts glowing, and as he's attacked, he finds that he has Super Speed. (It is later revealed that the Emeralds themselves have different powers themselves which combine to make a whole new kind of power). After the first victory is won due to Sonic's speed, the proffessor explains that somehow the Emerald unlock all of Sonics speed the government had empowered him but supressed when he was discarded (but they don't know it came from Dr. Eggman's genetic engineering.)

So now not is he a sentient, talking, intellegent Hedgehog, he's faster than the fastest human to boot! now, he decides to give himself a name, based on his new speed, which is of course, (and Ironically,) Sonic.

There's a good way to start the movie off, I think Bob. What do you think? There's much needed fleshing out work, but I think everything can be neatly explained in this franchise with this kind of start.

The voice underneath was just a really guttural growl basically. IIRC one of the original episodes had an error where they forgot to put the effect on the voice, and it basically sounded like a bored Dr Claw from Inspector Gadget.

And before anyone says, yes I realise it's the same VA.
Agreed. Welker for Soundwave if possible, but the Vocoder is an ABSOLUTE MUST.

AN ABSOLUTE FREAKING MUST. IT IS NOT SOUNDWAVE WITHOUT THE VOICE.

No bastardization of Soundwave like we got in Cybertron's dub.

Um... this is waht I don't get.

WHY do we always have to try and make movies REALISTIC????

Whatever happened to FANTASY?????

That's like taking the Lord of the Rings, and making Sauron Ted Sauron, head of the Mordor corporation, which threatens to crush all competition with a secret superweapon that he needs a control circuit to activate.

Said circuit is found in a ring, activated by body heat and... I'm not going to even go on.

This reminds me of that Tom Clancy-esque plot idea someone on the boards had for TF1 ages ago where the Transformers were built by humans, INSPIRED BY the 84 toys.

Apologies for quoting my own post, but for elaborating on how I'd do Sonic...

CGI. I'd adapt the plot of Sonic 3 and Knuckles for a standalone movie, or even borrow elements of the Archie comics/SATAM.

Although odds are the game ideas would be the best... in which case, I'd simply skip the origin and go straight to the setup. If audiences need an explanation for why Sonic runs fast, they're missing the point.

Mind you, what would make a good movie is an adaptation of Knuckles' plotline from the Archieverse (the backup stories, miniseries' and the ongoing). He's got a whole supporting cast/past/enemy roster there, PLUS the whole revelation that he was experimented on by his dad who wanted to play god and create the ultimate guardian.)
