It's a Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood (Sunday Posting)
Hi there… haven’t had a Sunday Posting in forever. Those of you that have been here that long remember that I used to use this space for musings and thoughts, until it came to be expected of me and thus pressure. Well I have some thoughts today and they might not make sense but I am not sure they ever did.
--- Thanks to those of you who saw SHOOT ‘EM UP and loved it. It seems that if people saw it they did indeed love it. I will always be most proud of it because it was the first Montford/Murphy credit of many and because it is a film that slipped under the radar and should not exist. People shooting at babies and hiring lactating hookers. Subversive. For those commenting on the box office, just note that we showed up on very few screens comparatively and New Line seems to have been unable to make people that aware of the film. Our hope is, since no new action film arrives for over a month, that we’ll have some staying power. But who the hell knows. It’s a great film and all you can do as producers is TRY to make great films. I’m proud of my partner Susan, of Rick who also produced the film and of Michael Davis who is just amazing. If you haven’t seen it, check it out. --- For those of you most anxious about TRANSFORMERS 2, the silence you hear is primarily because people are fretting about a presumed strike in June 2008. Will it happen? I don’t know- does the public care about strikes anymore in this day and age? What do rich people have to strike about anyway? I don’t have any side here ( you hear about the writers and the Producers but that actually means the STUDIOS) I just think stopping work is kind of pointless. But since no one wants to be filming IF a strike happens, everything needs to be done filming by the end of May 2008. So this is affecting the lack of news about Transformers 2 at least for now. Stay tuned. --- Susan just screened a near final cut of WHILE SHE WAS OUT and I know I am biased but she really knocked it out of the park. We were able to show it to a lot of filmmakers including Godfather and exec producing Guillermo del Toro. Everyone had helpful comments and everyone enjoyed the film. This is the kind of film that if a man had directed it it might not work. It is all about a woman, Kim Basinger, an ordinary housewife and unless she steps up and does extraordinary, brutal things she is never going to see her kids again. We’ll be putting the finishing touches on this and then finding a distributor, although many are interested in it already. --- We’re also trying to put together some films pre-strike. Some you have heard of like WE 3 and BIBLIONAUTS and one that just rocks called 30 MINUTES OR LESS. Some will come together and some will take longer but Angryfilms never gives up! Thanks to all you who care, both General Readers and full Stooges alike. Keep the Faith!

If I worked for the Encyclopedia Britannica as an editor or author then I'd put it front and center on my resume. I'd tell prospective clients and customers. I'd tell my family about it. I'd tell my former teachers. I'd put it on my weblog under my real name. I'd do this knowing that EB would stand right behind me to check and validate my scholarship against allcomers. What is it about Wikipedia that causes the exact opposite psychological response? Because editing and adminning Wikipedia is nothing to be proud of, because Wikipedia is an affront to education, to scholarship and to the Enlightenment that spawned the notions of universal education from which the encyclopedic nostrum began. Because to be associated with Wikipedia is not to be associated with some high moral principle but the very opposite - of the promotion of venality, political power games, historical revisionism, moral and intellectual cowardice and the promotion of the notion that a confluence of the opinions of ignoramuses constitutes an eventual path to Truth. ---JohnA, Wikipedia Review |

Great to hear from you, Don. I personally enjoyed the shit out of Shoot 'Em Up and dragged along a couple of friends who enjoyed it as well. It was one hell of a ride. As for TF:2, I figured that was the case. Here's hoping things sort themselves out so we don't have to wait three years to see these guys on the big screen again. Good luck in all your endeavors.

Sunday postings rock! Brings back memories of rushing to my comp repeatedly on Sunday to see what new news Don had of Transformers (yes, I have no life). Good times ^.^
Haven't seen Shoot 'em Up yet, but I plan to, probably next weekend. The b/f wants to see it too. While I've never actually read WE3, I love the premise and I'm anxious to see how that film turns out. Anything new about "Faces of Death"?

I should be seeing SEU this week, so you get my bit.
I am not clear on the striking thing. Does this also effect the pre-production people?

Sorry that Shoot Em Up isn't my kind of movie, still glad it's doing well for the screens it's on.
I am sure the reason for the strike is legit in the eyes of the people striking, and if I read correctly what it's about.. I can understand while there would be some angst in Hollywood, tho all-out-striking is a bit much. I'm curious about some other movies you mentioned you were doing or a part of, namely Parasyte. C

i wish i was 17 so i could see SEU... looks damn good...
and hopefully TF:2 wont be rushed so much that they have a repeat of the first one where the only TF with any persona is Bumble and Prime. would it be too much to ask for a small information on if shockwave will be in the movie? |

Biblionauts?
*edit* Found a synopsis here: http://www.themovieinsider.com/movie...79/Biblionauts Synopsis The story focuses on two kids who stumble upon a device invented by an eccentric scientist that enables them to be transported into great works of fiction. The kids embark on a series of spectacular adventures only to realize that someone else is changing the outcome of these classic books and thus altering real world history. The kids must locate the reluctant inventor and team with him to stop the villain before he goes too far. Can you give us any clues about 30 MINUTES OR LESS? |

Great to hear.
One question, what about Torso? I was extremely excited about it after seeing Zodiac. |

Oh yeah,
The WHILE SHE WAS OUT trailer I saw gave off a kindofa Judgement Night (Dennis Leary) vibe. I was gonna say it at the time but I couldn't remember the name of the film. I described the setup of the film to Kerrie and she said it sounded like a woman's worst nightmare. The short clip I saw gave me that weird, breathless, panicky feeling in my chest. Hopefully the movie-going audience will have a similar emotional reaction. Kim Basinger's just the woman to give the film that realistic edge, and it's nice to see her back on the big screen. |
