I remember the horrible crap of the 90s. Barf like N'Suck being gobbled up by all those middle-school girls. My landlord's daughter was one of them. I remember hearing N'Suck from her room every night. And she'd turn her radio up full blast. I'm surprised I didn't kill myself!
And then Puky...I mean Pokemon. Just when I thought things couldn't get anymore retarded! Of course, I didn't know which was worse, Pukymon or Beast Machines. To this day, I still can't make up my mind.

Pokemon brought about ideas that infected childrens TV shows, and those ideas even made there way to Transformers. How low can Hasbro get. They should ashamed about latching on the the whole "gotta' catch 'em all" philosophy. It just shows how Hasbro can't be trusted to use it's own line of toys in a responsible manner.
There should be a fan liason so they can be kept in check. Though he/she would probably be a lacky yes man who promotes ideas which mirrored Hasbro's, instead of the good one's.
I bet they have lacky's who post in the Transformer forum. The cowardly scumbags.

A non lacky "Fan consultant" would have probably made the exact same errors that Mattel did for He-Man. Attempt an "updated" cartoon with better animation, a few new scripts with some rewritten old ones, and put it out and expect each and every kid to see the joy that they do....
Only to find out the kid really doesn't because it's not anime enough.
Yes, it seems like utter and complete crap, but then Hasbro certainly wouldn't have the opportunities to develop what it's been doing now.
Hasbro used the most effective method.
It's utilizing what's popular to gain money, then repooling some of the extra money for the older fans into things like Alternators and 20th anniversary Prime.
Do you honestly think they'd sell these things if TF wasn't as popular?
It's not a good business move to expand into more limited lines if you're main one isn't selling well or at all.
Hasbro made sure that older fans were "honored" by NOT making Armada/Energon/Cybertron a G1 continuation. Remember, Takara wanted it that way.
Hasbro could have easily been a non-caring company about it's older fans and let Takara have it's way.
But, they made something new, because it was a drastic change in style and format. And, they knew some of the older fans would react with even more disdain then they do now. Hasbro got it's wish and made it officially an alternate universe to G1.
And..
BEAST MACHINES ROXXORZ!
*ahem*

I hope the creators of Power Rangers (all incarnations) slip in a puddle of AIDS and crack their skull.

Unfortunately I have to admit to being somewhat interested in the Pokemon pheomenon once upon a time... I even had a favourite (no, it wasn't Pikachu!!). Thankfully that feeling has now passed. Mind you, if somebody dumped a book containing details of all the little buggers on my lap I'd probably read it at least once (ducks, runs, hides). Mind you, I would exhibit the same behaviour if a book containing bios of all the TFs ever made, or all the xmen was dumped near me.. I guess I like reading about that kind of stuff.
I'd love to dis Beast Machines, but it (to my knowledge) was never shown in NZ, so I missed it :D

Being 31...I just never seen the allure of Pokemon. Actually, I can't see the allure of ANY cartoons that come out these days except TMNT.

oh, it all sucked. not too many good toons of the nineties either. what were good, were surprisingly from WB studios. and the WB channel sucks hard lol. freakazoid, animaniacs, pinky and the brain... good times. eek the cat and the terrible thunder lizards... very funny. there was also a short-lived pirate cartoon. i cant remember the name, but i do know the pirate's nemesis was angus or somesuch, who always threw a hagus dinner  .

There is no way that Beast Machines was worse than Pokemon.
The only good toons nowadays are Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Megas XLR. Let's not forget He-Man either. That show kicked ass.
Pokemon wins hands down as the most retarded cartoon ever made. Unfortuantely, that Pokemon retard shit made it to Armada and Energon in the case of Tidal Wave. You know what I mean. All Tidal Wave ever said was his name. In Energon, at least he said some words other than constantly repeating his name.

As I was in 4th grade when pokecrap came out, I did get into it for a little while. I had quite a few cards, but then i realized that you have nothing to do with them other than organize them and that the way the game is structured, you can't play well at all without the stupid really good, really rare card that all your friends had. I stopped collecting and tried to sell them for a few years until I finally got $25 on ebay for what I would have like $700 if I hadn't gotten into that stupid crap in the first place. *Bangs head on table* If only I'd spent it on more Transformers! :(
Music: I hate all that crap that you mentioned. I can't name one person at my school now that listens to pop music though. :)
Beast machines: I liked it a lot. It was dark and well-written. I didn't get any of the toys because I thought that they sucked and I didn't like the techno-earth-Cybertron ending, but I still enjoyed the show.
